Agriculture

The purpose of the Agriculture program in the conservation district is to assist farmers, livestock owners, and equine owners with Manure Management, Nutrient Management, and Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (or Conservation Plan). Whether you own a herd of cows, one horse, or a flock of chickens, it is necessary to have a Manure Management Plan on site to properly handle animal wastes. The Elk County Conservation District is available to assist with these plans and to help make sure we are properly managing our farms and livestock. These plans can downloaded from the "The Basics of Manure Management Plans" link below, or stop into the office to obtain a copy.

Elk County is home to a fair amount of horse owners as well. Horses are often overlooked when it comes to Manure Management Plans and E&S plans. Even if there is only one horse on the property, a manure plan is still needed. If you need assistance completing a manure management plan for your farm, please contact Amanda Murdock at the Conservation District today at This email address is being protected from spambots.
